Professor Keith Porter, Chairman of Trauma Care writes:
"I very much hope you will find the programme for the 9th International Trauma Care Conference of interest to you. Those of you who have attended a previous conference will know, Trauma Care was founded to promote good practice in a management of trauma victims and also to encourage integrated multi-disciplinary and multi-speciality working."
"The recent National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death in Trauma has highlighted significant deficiencies in both pre-hospital and in-hospital care, many of which will be addressed during the forthcoming conference. For the 2008 conference we welcome Doctor Jim O’Connor an Eminent Trauma Surgeon from "Shock Trauma" in Baltimore and colleagues who will be presenting during the programme for us."
"This year we have introduced an interactive clinical programme covering the management of head, chest, pelvic, extremity and burns trauma delivered sequentially over 4 days to cover pre-hospital care (day 1), resuscitation and damage control measures (day 2), critical care and definitive care (day 3) and secondary transfer, reconstructive care and rehabilitation (day 4)."
"As a Charity the Trauma Care Organisation tries hard to provide education opportunities to suit all participants. For this reason once again we have kept attendance fees as low as possible. Funding for ongoing education is often limited or non-existent, however we know from previous conferences that delegates have found the conference to be a uniquely rewarding experience not only educationally but in terms of meeting colleagues, other interested parties and subject experts. "
"The Jim Ryan lecture will be delivered by Dr Jim O’Connor at 1830 on Wednesday 23 April 2008 following the Trauma Care AGM at 1730. A dinner open to all will be held at 1930."
"The success of the conference depends on an enthusiastic attendance by our "Trauma Colleagues" and I would urge you to send your application form off."
"I am looking forward to meeting you in Telford in April 2008."
